FIRM HISTORY
Performance Equity Management was formed in 2005, and has assets under management of $8.7 billion as of September 30, 2023. The firm has a long tenured and seasoned investment team with over 150 years of combined private equity experience. In the late 1990s members of the team began working together at General Motors Investment Management Corporation to manage the GM pension private equity program. Since then, the team has committed $30 billion across private equity, venture capital and direct investments through co-mingled funds and separate accounts.
Sagard, a global multi-strategy alternative asset management firm, acquired a strategic stake in Performance Equity Management in 2024. The transaction combines PEM’s private equity fund of funds and co-investment expertise and strong investment track record with Sagard’s rapidly growing alternative investment offering and global network. With over $25B under management and 300 professionals, Sagard invests in equity, credit and real estate. Sagard has offices in Canada, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
